AUTONOMOUS VTOL MODEL AIRCRAFT

B.S. Autonomous Vehicle Systems Final Capstone Project

After 4 years at Arizona State U, this was my final capstone project. We designed, built and crash a VTOL autonomous aircraft. I was the Electronics & Software Lead on the project along with 8 more of my amazing peers. Our team designed the structures and the propulsion systems and manufactured the plane using 3D printed parts for complex geometries and lasercut Balsa wood for the main structure along with some Carbon Fiber components.

I was responsible for the design and manufacturing of the power  distribution system as well as coding the software required for the control system. Even though we crashed the plane badly in first test run, after salvaging what was left, we attempted a secondary flight and crashed the aircraft very badly. Still, this was one of the best learning experiences we've had and it was amazing to see our team bring this project together.

Hope you enjoy the pictures and videos!
